Tennis & Learning Center (TLC) - SF Rec & Parks

The Tennis & Learning Center (TLC) is a San Francisco Recreation & Parks out-of-school-time program that pairs tennis instruction with academic enrichment, health and wellness, and social-emotional development. Since 2014, TLC has served elementary school children in four high-need SF neighborhoods.

Junior Tennis Programs

Programs serve elementary through middle school kids:
- Western Addition site
- Chinatown site
- Portola site
- Bayview Hunters Point site
- Middle school cohort at Goldman Tennis Center (added 2021)
- After-school programming during the school year
- Summer camp options

What's Included

• Court time at neighborhood sites and Goldman Tennis Center
• Coaching from TLC staff (SF Rec & Parks)
• Age-appropriate balls and racquets through colored-ball progression
• Academic tutoring and wellness programming alongside tennis
• Free or low-cost participation for eligible families

Experience

TLC's mission is community-focused - tennis as the entry point to broader child development support. Kids stay with the same neighborhood site cohort year over year, building friendships and consistency. Middle school graduates move to Goldman Tennis Center for advanced training while staying connected to TLC.
