U.S. National Whitewater Center - 1,300-Acre Outdoor Recreation Campus
Non-profit outdoor recreation campus on the Catawba River in west Charlotte, with man-made whitewater channels, climbing walls, mountain bike trails, zip lines, paddle sports, and an extensive trail system. Operating since 2006, the center offers 30+ different recreational activities on a single Day Pass.
Programs for Kids
Summer Camps June through August in 5-day sessions for ages 4-15. Programs include:
- Adventure-Based Camps (full-week activity sampler)
- STEAM and Survival Specialty Camps
- Rock Instructional Camps (climbing)
- Ride Instructional Camps (mountain biking)
- Paddle and Kayak Camps
- Half-day, full-day, and multi-week registrations

Experience
West Charlotte and metro families use the center for outdoor skill-building - kids leave camp weeks with hands-on time in climbing, kayaking, biking, or survival skills. Year-round festivals, races, and concerts also bring families to the campus outside of camp sessions.
