Akron's Treasured Community Playhouse with Youth Academy

Weathervane Playhouse is a longstanding community theater in north Akron producing high-quality live theatre with volunteer artists under professional direction. Alongside its mainstage season, the playhouse runs a Theatre Academy serving students from age 3 through high school.

Classes for Ages 3 and Up

Weathervane Theatre Academy (formerly WYART) covers acting, dance, musical theatre, and technical theatre at beginning, intermediate, and advanced skill levels. Programs include:
- Acting and improvisation classes
- Auditioning workshops
- Dance and movement training
- Musical theatre vocal training
- Visual arts integrated with stage design
- Real-life work experience in technical theatre

What's Included

• Stage time in the playhouse's main performance space
• Instruction across all aspects of production, on-stage and behind-scenes
• Pipeline from class to mainstage casting

Experience

Office hours run Tuesday-Friday 11:00 AM-5:00 PM. The academy suits kids who want to train inside an actively producing community theatre rather than a standalone class studio.
