About
Three Decades of Mandarin in the Magic City
Yuren Chinese School has been teaching Mandarin to Birmingham-area families since 1993, growing into one of the region's longest-running heritage language programs. The nonprofit runs on parent volunteer power and currently serves more than 80 students from kindergarten through tenth grade.
Weekend Mandarin Program
Classes meet every Sunday afternoon and group children by grade level starting at age five. Students use the Ma Liping Chinese Series and progress through:
- Kindergarten and early-elementary Mandarin
- Middle-grade reading and writing
- High school level Chinese language and literature
- Cultural enrichment activities alongside language work
