Airlie Gardens
About
67-Acre Coastal Garden With Bottle Chapel
Airlie Gardens spans 67 acres of historic Coastal Carolina landscape - towering live oaks draped in Spanish moss, formal azalea gardens, freshwater lakes, and the whimsical Bottle Chapel sculpture made from 5,000 glass bottles by self-taught folk artist Minnie Evans.
What Kids Can Do
The Airlie Oak, a 467-year-old live oak with a 100-foot canopy, anchors the gardens. The Butterfly House (open seasonally) lets kids walk among native pollinators. Pegasus the Loggerhead sea turtle sculpture and Earl the Frog give kids photo ops. Self-guided audio tour with kid-friendly version available. Bottle Chapel and labyrinth garden hide colorful surprises [marked: Butterfly House open April-October only - confirm at the front gate before visiting in cooler months].
