Greenfield Lake Park
About
250-Acre Cypress-Lake Park With 5-Mile Drive
Greenfield Lake Park is a 250-acre city park anchored by a cypress-lined lake at downtown Wilmington's south edge. Famous for spring azalea blooms, Spanish-moss-draped trees, and a 5-mile scenic drive that loops the entire lake.
What Kids Can Do
Paddleboat, kayak, and canoe rentals at the boathouse let kids explore the lake. The Lions Club Bridge crosses the cypress swamp at the south end with alligator-spotting potential. Playgrounds at multiple access points (Fragrance Garden side and amphitheater side). The 5-mile loop drive doubles as a paved biking and walking path - great for first bike rides. Concession stand and shaded picnic shelters at the boathouse [marked: alligator sightings in the cypress swamp section common - parents watch younger kids near the water's edge].
What's Included
Free day-use of trails, playgrounds, drive loop. Boat rentals $10-25/hour at the boathouse. Concession stand seasonal.
