Barnes Tennis Center in Point Loma
Barnes Tennis Center on West Point Loma Boulevard is one of San Diego's largest public tennis facilities, with 25 outdoor courts plus pickleball and padel courts. The center hosts the Steve Adamson Tennis Academy (SATA), home to San Diego's top-ranked junior players, alongside community programming open to all ages and levels.
Junior Tennis Programs
Programs run a structured K-12 progression:
- Red Ball (Kinder and 1st grade) - first racquet contact
- Orange Ball (2nd-3rd grade) - extended court size with low-compression balls
- Green Ball (4th-5th grade) - approaching full-court play
- Middle School Competitive (1.0-4.0 UTR)
- Varsity High School (2.0-5.5 UTR)
- Elite High School (5.5+ UTR)
- Steve Adamson Tennis Academy - elite invitation-track training
- After School Tennis Program (AST, ages 6+)
- Summer Camps - recreational, specialized (Tennis & Art, All Racquet Sports), and team development

Experience
Barnes runs busy - SATA produces nationally ranked juniors, while AST and Red/Orange/Green tracks fill out the casual side. UTR-rated tiers above middle school create a clear competitive ladder. The Point Loma location pulls families from across central San Diego.
