Flagstaff Summit Nature Center
About
Mountain-Top Nature Center With Continental Divide Views
Flagstaff Summit Nature Center sits at 6,983 feet on the summit of Flagstaff Mountain - a stone interpretive cabin built by the CCC in 1936. Open Memorial Day through September weekends only with interactive natural history exhibits and ranger talks.
What Kids Can Do
Hands-on exhibits inside the cabin cover Flagstaff geology, wildlife, and wildflowers - kids touch pelts, antlers, and rock samples. Outside, half-mile interpretive trails loop the summit with signs explaining the ponderosa-pine ecosystem and Front Range views. Ranger-led nature walks and Junior Ranger booklet activities every weekend. The Halfway House meadow nearby has a playground and picnic shelters [marked: open Memorial Day through September weekends only, 10am-4pm - center closed October-May].
