Hanabi Judo on San Pablo Avenue in Albany has been part of the Berkeley / East Bay community since 1965 - 60 years of continuous operation - developing strong judoka and good people of character across multiple generations.

Experience
60 years of continuous operation puts Hanabi Judo among the oldest judo dojos in the western US - clear institutional teaching credentials and multi-generation family enrollment. Sensei Dan is reported as especially supportive of teen students. Kids learn ukemi (falling) first, then standing throws (ippon seoi nage, osoto gari, uchi mata) and ground transitions, with optional shiai (competition) participation.
