21-Hole Wooded Disc Golf Course
Heritage Park is a 35-acre wooded park anchored by a 21-hole disc golf course - one of central Iowa's most popular - plus a walking trail and playground. The disc golf course is 3,600 feet of fairway through mature trees with water hazards.
What Kids Can Do
Disc golf is the marquee draw - kids ages 6+ can play the front 9 holes which are shorter and more forgiving. Walking trail loops through woods past the course for non-golfing siblings. Playground at the entrance for younger kids. Picnic shelter and restrooms on-site [marked: weekend mornings can be busy with disc golf leagues - go midday for shorter waits].

Free day-use of disc golf course, trail, playground. Bring your own discs - no on-site rental. Shelter reservations through Ankeny Parks.
Experience
Plan 1.5-3 hours for a disc golf round plus play. Almost entirely outdoor - bring water, sun protection, sturdy shoes. About 1 mile southeast of downtown Ankeny. Free on-site parking.
