The Indian River YMCA serves Chesapeake's east-side neighborhoods. The branch on Edwin Drive hosts the YMCA of South Hampton Roads' youth flag football program for families across south Chesapeake.

Flag Football Divisions

Programs include:
- Newcomer and returning-player tracks
- Spring and fall outdoor seasons
- Age-grouped divisions through middle school
- No try-outs or cuts; every child plays at least half each game
