Indiana's Oldest Youth Hockey Association
The Indianapolis Youth Hockey Association (IYHA) is a 501(c)(3) youth hockey organization founded in 1963, based at Carmel Ice Skadium on 3rd Avenue SW. IYHA runs the full youth hockey pipeline for the north side of Indianapolis - learn to play, mite through high school house, and travel teams competing across the Midwest under the Indianapolis Racers and Indianapolis Jr. Fuel banners.
Programs For Kids
Programming covers ages 4 through 17 with both recreational and competitive tracks. Programs include:
- Learn to Play Hockey (station-based, ages 4-17, four skill/age groups)
- House League (recreational divisions by birth year)
- Indianapolis Racers and Jr. Fuel travel teams
- Girls hockey track
- Summer clinics and tryout skates
What's Included
- Equipment provided for Learn to Play (kept by participant in many sessions)
- Two-sheet practice and game capacity at Skadium
- USA Hockey-registered coaches and ADM-aligned curriculum
- Volunteer board structure (501c3 non-profit)
- Tournament travel opportunities for travel teams
Experience
IYHA is the long-running anchor of north Indianapolis youth hockey - kids who start in Learn to Play here typically stay in IYHA programs through high school. Tryout-track families compete in Midwest tournaments; rec-track families play house games every weekend at Skadium.
