About
Rock Creek Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park
Rock Creek Tennis Center (officially the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center) sits inside Rock Creek Park on 16th Street NW, the long-time home of the Citi Open ATP/WTA tournament. The facility holds 25 tennis courts - 5 indoor, 10 clay outdoor, and 10 lighted hard courts - making it one of the largest public tennis centers in the country.
Junior Tennis Programs
Programs serve kids ages 5 through 17:
- 10 & Under Tennis - USTA progression with red, orange, and green ball levels
- Junior group classes by ability and age
- Private and semi-private lessons
- Camps during school breaks and summer
- Junior tournaments hosted on site through the year
What's Included
- Court time on 25 courts (5 indoor, 10 clay outdoor, 10 lighted)
- Coaching from Rock Creek Tennis Center pro staff
- Age-appropriate balls and racquets through colored-ball progression
- Year-round access with indoor courts active through DC winters
Experience
The facility hosts top-level pro tennis once a year - kids practice on the same courts where Citi Open finals are played. The mix of clay outdoor and indoor surfaces gives variety unusual for DC-area juniors. Public-facility pricing keeps the program accessible while quality stays at academy level.
