About

Southeast Tennis and Learning Center

Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC) sits in Ward 8 on Mississippi Avenue SE, operated by DC's Department of Parks and Recreation. The 48,000 sq ft indoor facility plus outdoor courts make it one of DC's largest public tennis venues east of the Anacostia. Programming blends tennis with academic and life-skills enrichment.

Junior Tennis Programs

Programs serve kids of all ages:
- Tennis instruction across skill levels
- USTA Arthur Ashe Kids Day events
- Summer Camps with full-day programming
- Beginner group classes through competitive-track training
- Private lessons available

What's Included

  • Court time on 6 indoor hard courts and 7 outdoor courts (6 hard, 1 clay-tech)
  • Coaching from SETLC pro staff
  • Age-appropriate balls and racquets for younger players
  • Tutoring, life skills, developmental chess, coding, and arts programming alongside tennis
  • Computer room, library, fitness room, and engineering room on site

Experience

SETLC's tennis-plus-education model parallels WTEF on the east side of the river - kids leave with tennis skills and academic support. Indoor courts run year-round, removing weather as a barrier. Public-facility pricing keeps the program broadly accessible across Ward 7 and Ward 8 families.
