The Kitchen at Hubbard Arts Center is Derby Recreation Commission's dedicated teaching kitchen serving the Wichita south metro. Three age-tiered tracks plus summer camps run year-round under Culinary Arts Coordinator Jon Meidinger.
Kids Programs
Three age tracks plus camps. Programs include:
- Beginner Chefs (ages 3-6, foundational kitchen play and simple recipes)
- Kid Chefs (ages 7-10, hands-on cooking and basic technique)
- Young Chefs (ages 11-15, advanced recipes and presentation)
- Culinary camps and special events

Experience
Kids progress through age tracks year over year, building real cooking technique. Hubbard's broader arts programming sits alongside the kitchen, so families can pair cooking with art, dance, or sports across the rec calendar.
