Living History Village on Bayou Vermilion
Vermilionville is a 23-acre Cajun and Creole living history museum on the banks of Bayou Vermilion - 18 historic structures including six restored original 1700-1800s homes plus replica buildings. Costumed interpreters demonstrate Cajun music, traditional crafts, and 1700s-1800s daily life.
What Kids Can Do
Kids walk through the historic village watching costumed interpreters spin wool, blacksmith iron, make bread, and play Cajun music. The folk-life park grounds have walking paths along Bayou Vermilion with bird-watching platforms. Educational hands-on programs at the Γcole and traditional games. Cajun jam sessions in the performance hall. La Cuisine de Maman restaurant serves authentic Cajun food on-site [marked: closed Mondays - other days 10am-4pm].

Plan 2-4 hours. Mix indoor historic homes and outdoor village paths. Bring sun protection, water, comfortable walking shoes. Stroller-friendly main paths but some buildings have steep steps. Free on-site parking.
