El Taller Latino Americano
About
El Taller Latino Americano in East Harlem
El Taller Latino Americano is a nonprofit cultural center in Manhattan's El Barrio (East Harlem), on East 99th Street, that has taught Spanish of the Americas for decades while serving the Upper East Side, Upper Manhattan, and families across the city. Unlike a textbook Castilian program, El Taller centers the Spanish of Latin America - its dialects, music, and traditions - so children connect language to living culture rather than grammar drills.
Language Programs
The children's track, Aventuras for Kids, teaches Spanish through sound and repetition woven into music, theater, visual art, crafts, and everyday-life themes:
- Group Aventuras classes
- An after-school program
- Arts workshops with field trips into the neighborhood
- Units paired with a song or art project so learners absorb vocabulary while creating
What's Included

- Award-winning, culture-based curriculum
- Nonprofit cultural center mission rooted in the imagination and diversity of the Americas

Experience
El Taller is a strong fit for families who want their child to speak Spanish and understand the cultures behind it. The hands-on, joyful curriculum keeps classes off the desk and in the music, art, and traditions of Latin America, and the on-site music school and gallery give language students a wider creative community to grow within.
