Evelyn's Midtown Kitchen, founded by Chef Evelyn Stokes, operates a culinary education and community engagement program from Shed 5 at Detroit's Eastern Market, with youth, family, and adult cooking sessions plus wellness-focused workshops.
Kids Programs
Summer 2026 Kids Camps:
- Kids Camp - Global Flavors (June 8-12, 9:00-11:30 AM) - Korean Kimbap rolls, Cacio e Pepe with homemade pasta, and other international dishes
- Kids Camp - Summer Bakeshop (July 13-17, 9:00-11:30 AM) - savory pastries, sweet desserts, creative confections
Year-round youth and family cooking sessions also offered between camps.

- All ingredients and tools provided
- Instruction from Chef Evelyn Stokes (formerly of I Eat Super, a school-cooking-program initiative)

Experience
Strong community-engagement angle - the school grew out of Chef Evelyn's earlier work teaching healthy meal preparation in Detroit schools. Summer camps emphasize practical international cuisines and from-scratch baking rather than novelty themes, which fits older elementary and middle-school cooks who want to leave the camp able to repeat the dishes at home.
