Sacramento Splash
About
Environmental Education Since 2001
Sacramento Splash is a nonprofit environmental education organization founded to give Sacramento-area kids hands-on connection with the region's vernal pools, watersheds, and grasslands. The Splash Science Center anchors programming at Mather, with field experiences at Nicolaus Dairy and elsewhere.
School & Camp Programs
Splash works primarily with school groups, with summer leadership camp for older youth. Programs include:
- Stormwater Pollution program (grades 3-6)
- Vernal pool field trips (Mather)
- Project AWE at the historic Nicolaus Dairy
- Youth Environmental Leadership Camp (YELC) for teens
- Splash in the Class outreach
- Special community events
What's Included
- Educator-led field experiences
- Curriculum materials aligned with science standards
- Outdoor classroom access at vernal pool sites
Experience
Curriculum is grounded in real Sacramento ecology - vernal pools, native plants, watersheds. Strong fit for school groups, scout troops, and teens interested in environmental advocacy. YELC is selective and one of the better local environmental leadership tracks for high schoolers.
